How to plan out a stunt home-movie

Introduction

Since Jackass first burst onto our screens, more and more people (Mostly men, strange enough) are attempting to film their own stunt movies. This little guide should help you plan out your movie, which will help expose full halarity and pain. Its better to be planned than spontaneous...

If your stunt movie is gonna be in Jackass style, and not just a montage, this plan will be a great help

  • A Creative mind
  • Pen
  • Paper

Steps

Step One

First of all, you gotta write down a name for your stunt. It makes it easier to say to the other peopl in the movie. For example, for a stunt that involves strapping someone to a skateboard and using them as a skateboard, you could call it 'Human Skateboard'. Try choose something that reveals the base of the stunt but leaves the viewer desperate to see what it is.

Use this name as the title for the Stunt planout.

Step Two

Next, you gotta come up with the location. Where will it be? Will the stunt be better in a crowded place? Try come up with a location that will make it funnier; after all thats what its all about.

Step Three

Then you gotta write down whos doing it. Is everyone gonna perform this stunt, or only someone prone to concusion? Ask the other people whos going to do it and select, but remember to include yourself.

Step Four

What props do you need? For example, if your going to race down a hill with eachother on desk chairs, your gonna need desk chairs for definite, finishing rope, the camera...

Step Five

Nows the safety part. Its all fun watching someone flip off a bike and get concusion, but hows HE gonna feel? Think of all the possibilities and write down the equipment that should be used.

Now you have got a plan for your stunt. Repeat this guide for each stunt and everything should be a lit simpler.

Step Seven

EXAMPLE:
(The stunt using shopping trolleys and boxing gloves on the end of sticks to have a jousting competition.)

TROLLEY JOUSTING
Where: Co-op car park
Who: Jack, Howie, Henry, Joey, Pottsy.
What: 2 Large sticks/rods, 2 trolley, 2 boxing gloves
Owch: Mobile phones (for Ambulance), plasters, tissues.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • Remember, pain = funny
  • You could present it in a chart.
  • The simpler it is, the more easy it is to read
  • Get another person whos doing the movie to proof-read it and check
  • Always keep a mobile phone on you, just incase anything serious happens
