How to combine images making a panoramic picture

Introduction

By capturing a series of images around a single point of rotation using a tripod, you can scan these images into your computer and stitch these pictures together to make one seamless panoramic picture.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You'll Need

  • Camera on a tripod
  • Large landscape or extensive scene you want to photograph
  • Computer with scanner
  • Image editing software
  • Laser printer using photo paper

Steps

1

Step One

Begin by setting up your camera as level as you possibly can facing the landscape or large scene you want to capture.
2

Step Two

Set your exposure and aperture.
3

Step Three

Take your first picture of the far left edge of the scene you are capturing.
4

Step Four

Rotate your camera to the right so that the frame still overlaps the previous frame on the left by 25%, and take your next picture.
5

Step Five

Continue to rotate in this fashion and take a picture until you reach the far right side of the scene you are photographing.
6

Step Six

If you are using a film camera use a scanner to upload your pictures into your computer.
7

Step Seven

Using the panoramic feature on your imaging software of choice, stitch together the pictures where they overlap.
8

Step Eight

Once finished, save the completed panoramic picture and print it out on a laser printer using photo paper.
