How to Wear Perfume Without Damaging Your Clothing

Introduction

Perfume may smell heavenly, but getting rid of perfume stains can be devilishly difficult. The essential oils and alcohol can stain and damage clothing that the perfume touches, so it's best to prevent them.

Step One

Apply perfume before you dress. Let it dry completely on your skin before putting on clothing.

Step Two

Wash or dry clean clothing youa??ve worn while wearing perfume before storing it for a long period of time.

If you get perfume on your clothing, rinse the area with warm water immediately and wash the clothing as soon as possible.

Use commercial stain remover if regular washing doesna??t remove the stain.

Dab persistent perfume stains with ammonia and wash at once.

Sponge non-washable clothing with lukewarm water and take to a dry cleaner as soon as possible. Be sure to point out the stain and explain what it is.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • You may be able to remove perfume stains with vinegar. Just soak the stained item of clothing in a quart of lukewarm water with ?? teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, then wash as usual.
