How to Watch Less Television

Introduction

Many of us have gotten into the habit of planning our lives around television. It can be hard to miss that favorite weekly show. But we can take back control of our lives by watching less television and proving that it doesn't control us.

Steps

Step One

Drop your cable or satellite provider. With fewer channel choices, you will have fewer reasons to turn it on. Instead of looking for any show that is on at a time, participate in another activity.

Step Two

Listen to the radio. Not having a visual image can stimulate the imagination. Explore many types of music to find your favorite.

Step Three

Read books. That will help the imagination even more. Read fiction for pleasure. Add some informational books to increase your knowledge.

Step Four

Take up other hobbies, such as playing an instrument or some form of exercise. This will take up your time and make it more productive.

Step Five

Get out of the house. Plan events with your family or friends, go to the park or a ballgame, and get fresh air.
