How to Volunteer for the YMCA
Introduction
Finding things to do isn't always easy, but when there is a place to go that provides multiple activities, you are sure to never be bored. The YMCA is available for all ages and offers programs and activities everyone in the family can enjoy.

Step One
Look in the local area phone book to find the number and address for the area YMCA. Call and inquire about membership or even better, go to the center and check out what it has to offer. Most memberships are very affordable for individuals or families.

Step Two
Join a program. There are several kinds of clubs, social activities, support groups and other organized programs for the entire family. The offerings will keep the entire family busy all summer or even all year.

Step Three
Go swimming at the YMCA's pool. Many have an indoor pool, so no matter what time of the year it is, you can enjoy a few laps of swimming.

Step Four
Play basketball. There is almost always a basketball court at the Y. Many children play games on the weekends, as well as adults. Sometimes there is more than one court, so that children can play on one and adults can play on the other.

Step Five
Run around the track or walk with your family. Time yourself and see if you can beat your time. See how much faster you can get over a period of time.

Interact with others. Look at the schedule, find something that captures your interest and join the fun. It is a no pressure way to meet new people and become active in your community.

Join a team. The YMCA many types of sports teams and usually a cheer leading squad to cheer on the teams. Get the family involved have fun!
