How to Volunteer for the Nobel Foundation

Introduction

Since 1900, the Nobel Foundation has been celebrating the world's educational and humanitarian achievements through the funds established in the will of Alfred Nobel. Alfred Nobel was an author, pacifist, entrepreneur and academic. The prize he established, the Nobel Prize, awards accomplishments in the areas of Chemistry, Literature, Physics, Physiology or Medicine and Peace.

Steps

Step One

Visit the Nobel Foundation website for information about the foundation (see Resources below). Read about the history of the Nobel Foundation and details of the Nobel ceremonies.

Step Two

Contact the Nobel Foundation directly by email at comments@nobelprize.org. In your email, inquire about volunteer opportunities and how to apply.

Step Three

Ask about volunteer opportunities available during the Nobel Week in Stockholm when the Nobel Prizes for Chemistry, Economics, Literature, Physics, Physiology and Medicine are awarded.

Step Four

Try to volunteer at the Nobel banquet held in Sweden after the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony. The Nobel Foundation hosts over 1,000 guests for a formal dinner at the Blue Hall inside of Stockholm City Hall.

Step Five

Offer to volunteer your time at the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo City Hall, Norway. During the ceremony, Nobel Laureates deliver lectures outlining their achievements and educating their peers.

Step Six

Consider asking for a volunteer position at the Nobel Museum in Stockholm. Contact the museum through the online form located on the Nobel Museum website (see Resources below).

Step Seven

Present yourself as a volunteer for the Nobel Peace Center (see Resources below). Offer to help host guided tours, work in the gift shop or work one of the exhibitions held within the center. Contact the Nobel Peace Center by sending an email to post@nobelpeacecenter.org.

Step Eight

Talk to children about spreading peace in their communities. Volunteer your time to children by mentoring or taking part in an after school program or activity. Encourage the children you work with to learn more about the Nobel Peace Prize, and to send their stories about peace to skole@nobelpeacecenter.net.
