How to Visit Washington's Bainbridge Island

Introduction

Bainbridge Island is a quick trip from Seattle that brings the visitor to a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Bainbridge Island is home to about 20,000 people and is well-known for its breathtaking scenery and thriving artistic community.

Step One

Find a ferry schedule. Take the ferry for the 30-minute trip to Bainbridge Island. Enjoy the view of the Seattle skyline from Elliott Bay as you cross it.

Step Two

Check out the town of Winslow, which is close to the area where the ferry docks. Rent a bicycle in Winslow if you haven't brought one, or use your car if you brought it along on the ferry. Ride down the country roads, and enjoy the natural surroundings of Bainbridge. Stop for a game of tennis or golf.

Step Three

Seek out a few of the many art galleries that Bainbridge Island is famous for. Visit the island's Performing Arts Gallery as well as the Arts and Crafts Gallery.

Step Four

Visit the Bloedel Reserve to see the natural countryside at its best. Enjoy the outdoors with a walking tour through the reserve.

Step Five

Go to Winslow for lunch, and eat at one of the many restaurants and cafes catering to locals and tourists. Shop in the town for handmade items and other unique items sold in the many gift shops.

Wander over to the village green while in Winslow to see the town's center and observe life there.
