How to Visit Jorvik, the Viking City

Introduction

The Viking city of Jorvik has been excellently preserved by the spongy soil surrounding this once buried city. Jorvik was constructed based on artifacts and evidence uncovered during the Coppergate excavations of the late 1970s to the early 1980s. The dig took place while an old English sweet factory site was being excavated. During the dig, 10th Century Viking remains were unearthed including important historical artifacts. This city is said to be one of the biggest attractions outside of London and is located in York and is a definite must-do.
