How to View Grades in Blackboard

Introduction

Blackboard provides students with the ability to access grade reports by class electronically. Depending on your instructor's use of the Blackboard "gradebook," you may see grades instantly posted after an online test or you may have to wait until the end of the semester to review your grades.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need

  • Blackboard account

Steps

1

Step One

Log in to your Blackboard account using your login name and password.
2

Step Two

Click on the "Courses" tab at the top of the "Welcome" webpage to access classes that are using Blackboard. A class list may also be displayed on the "Welcome" page depending on your institution's settings.
3

Step Three

Use the links provided to enter your class' Blackboard website.
4

Step Four

Navigate to the "Course Tools" page using the "Tools" button in the course menu to the left of the course welcome page.
5

Step Five

Choose "View Grades" from the list of course tools to open the gradebook. Your grades for each assignment will be listed along with the date that the assignment was graded. An overall grade and weighted grade may also be listed if the course has been completed.
6

Step Six

Click "OK" to return to the "Course Tools" page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Call your school's online student help desk if you experience problems with your Blackboard account.
  • Call your instructor if you notice any discrepancies in grades or if an exclamation point is listed instead of a grade. "!" indicates that an assignment needs to be graded by the instructor or that a problem occurred during assignment submission.
