How to Use iTunes - Finding and Saving Podcasts

Introduction

There are thousands of Podcasts available for free from the iTunes Store. Learn how to find and save your Podcasts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Finding Podcasts

Steps

Step One

Start iTunes.

Click on the iTunes Store link.

Click on Podcasts in the iTunes Store panel.

Step Four

Click on the Browse button in the right store window to browse through categories of Podcasts (e.g. arts, business, education, music, news, etc.).

Step Five

Click on the Power Search button in the right store window to search for a specific Podcast by Title, Author, Description and/or Category. A list of Podcasts within the search criteria are listed.

Step Six

Double-click on a Podcast title to hear a preview of it. (If it is a Video Podcast, you will also see a preview of the video portion.)

Saving Podcasts

Click the Get Episode button if you want a copy of the Podcast. The video will be downloaded (saved) to your iTunes library.

Step Two

Click on the iPod link in your left iTunes window to see the Podcast you downloaded. (See Related Articles for information on listening to your Podcasts.)

Tips & Warnings

  • Sign in to your account or create a new account so you can pay for your Podcast before it is downloaded to your computer if necessary. Most Podcasts are free.
  • You want to select Get Episode (or Download) for your Podcast. If you select Subscribe, you will get a download of not only one episode but all future episodes automatically. (See Related Articles for details on subscribing and unsubscribing to Podcasts.)
