How to Use Party Shuffle in iTunes

Introduction

The Party Shuffle option in iTunes allows you to listen to any grouping of songs in a random order. You can also make changes to the order if you would like. Party Shuffle is useful when entertaining for a party, hence the name. These are a few steps to take to use Party Shuffle in iTunes.

Steps

Step One

Open iTunes. You can either right/command click or double-click on the iTunes icon located on your desktop. When using a PC, you can find it in the start menu.

Step Two

Click on "Party Shuffle" located in the playlists column on the left side of the iTunes window. Look for an icon with a staggered stack of CDs.

Step Three

Choose the source from which the Party Shuffle will choose songs. You can change the source by clicking on the "Source" bar to select the playlist you would like to use. The default source is the entire music library.

Step Four

Change the display settings. Change the number of upcoming songs and recently played songs to be displayed.

Step Five

Add or remove songs to the Party Shuffle. To remove songs, right/command click on a song that you would like to remove and select "Delete." To add songs, right/command click on the song of a different playlist and select "Add to Party Shuffle."

Step Six

Play the Party Shuffle. Click on the "Play" button at the top left of the iTunes window.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • Click on the a??Play Higher Rated Songs More Oftena?? check box at the bottom of the Party Shuffle window to play your higher rated songs more often than the lower rated songs.
  • Change the order of the songs by clicking on the "Shuffle" button at the bottom right corner of the Party Shuffle.
  • Party Shuffle is only for audio and not the video saved in your iTunes.

If you enjoy acting as a DJ, you may enjoy the Party Shuffles feature in iTunes. Party Shuffle enable users to create a playlist of any songs from songs within your playlists or library. If you would like, you are able to edit the mix at any time.

In the Source pane, click on Party Shuffle below the Playlists section.

Step Two

If you would like to select a specific playlist rather than the entire Library, select an option that will appear from the Source pop-up menu near the bottom of the iTunes window.

Step Three

Now you can choose the number of songs you would like to include in your Party Shuffle.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • If you would like to edit the Party Shuffle mix, you can change the order or add new songs by dragging them.
  • If you would like to delete a song from your Party Shuffle, select the song and then choose Delete.
  • If you would like to hide the Party Shuffle playlist, simply go to the General pane of iTunes preferences.
