Introduction

Ordinary items can become very special when you use them to propose. Follow these steps to surprise your girlfriend with a creative proposal that she'll always remember and cherish.

Step One

Schedule your proposal. If you want propose on a Sunday morning, you may want to get up early and hide the ring in the newspaper. If you want to propose on a weekday morning, hide the ring in her makeup bag. If you want to propose at night before she goes to bed, you could tie the ring on the washcloth she uses to wash her face.

Step Two

Choose whether you want to be present or if you want her to find the ring on her own. If you want to be there, plan the proposal for a time when you are always together. If you do not want to be there when she finds the ring, you may want to include a note about meeting you at the park, a restaurant or another location so she will know what to do once she finds the ring.

Decide if the ring will speak for itself or if you want to plan a speech to deliver when she finds the ring.

  • If your girlfriend has a roommate, you may want to fill her in on the details. Otherwise, she may find the ring before your girlfriend and ruin the surprise.
