You've got the crowd you were hoping for, now how do you control them? Proper planning, design and management can make your event a success. Use barricades wisely to help guide the crowd and offer them a safe, enjoyable and smooth experience.

Step One
Form an event management team with clearly defined roles for each member. Develop a written plan for inspection, operation and review of the event and venue. Make sure all team members are adequately trained and aware of their individual responsibilities.

Consider the type of crowd your event will draw and what kind of behavior might be expected. Are you staging a nice calm family art festival? Or is it a wild music concert? Estimating the crowd size and behavior will help you plan your barricade layout to best control crowd flow and create a safe environment.

Inspect the venue to get a specific idea of layout. Consider any hazards such as steep slopes or traffic, especially in areas where you anticipate gathering crowds, such as at entrances and exits, or near a stage or vendors.
