Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Prepare your child for two exciting days at the Children's Food Fair. Get some food-related books to get him or her interested. The Fair takes place on 14 and 15 July, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
2

Step Two

Make accommodation arrangements to stay in the local area. You can inquire about these by contacting the Oxford Information Center or the Abingdon Tourist Information Center.
3

Step Three

Drive or take a train to Oxford or Didcot Parkway. The Food Fair venue is the Abingdon Airfield, five miles to the south from Oxford and just off the A34. There are shuttle buses available from Abingdon and Didcot Parkway. If you come by car, you can park at the Abingdon Airfield for a small fee.
4

Step Four

Arrive at the Abingdon Airfield and accompany your child around the Fair stalls and attractions.
5

Step Five

Visit the "Field to Fork" attraction, where you'll find exciting and interactive food stories about how the food you eat arrives on your plate.

Learn about spices at the Smell Tent. Enjoy some sweet treats at the Honey Tent. Taste some Maple Syrup.
8

Step Eight

Introduce your child to different world cuisines. Try out Mexican, French, Indian, Bangladeshi, Thai, Egyptian and Caribbean food. Walk around the Farmers Market and treat your child to local, organic and fairtrade produce.
9

Step Nine

Say hello to some Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs and Little Wittenham sheep in the Farm Animals Section.
10

Step Ten

Have a good laugh watching the gastro-comedy and food theater.
11

Step Eleven

Watch some of the leading chefs from the food world demonstrate their skills as they whip up splendid concoctions. If your child is lucky there will even be an opportunity to cook along side a famous chef.
