How to Take Kids Bowling on a Budget

Introduction

Kids love to throw just about anything at anything. Bowling lets them do that in a controlled setting, and they get to keep score. Shoe rental, food, drinks and the price of each game can be expensive. A parent or caregiver needs a bowling budget to be able to make bowling an affordable outing.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Look for and clip coupons for weekly discounted specials. Several of the bowling establishments send out coupons through the mail in bulk mailings. Discounts such as free shoe rental, buy one game get another free, and discounted refreshments may be offered. Often times the coupons will have quick expiration so you will need to keep up with the dates.

Step Two

Sign up online to be on area bowling alleys' email lists. Being on the lists allows the business to send you information about specials and upcoming events. These events usually include discounted prices that will allow you to stay in your budget.
3

Step Three

Call bowling alleys for weekly specials. Several alleys will hold specials during the weekdays to bring people in. During the summer, many companies will hold kids hours or buy-one-get-one-free days.
4

Step Four

Join a bowling league. Kids that like to bowl usually like this option. No rain-outs, no playing in the heat and rain. When you join a kids bowling league, there is usually a promotion or special program that the kids are entitled to. Kids leagues are usually scheduled during the weekday after school and if in the summer games are usually during the morning.
5

Step Five

Bring water bottles for yourself and the kids. Water, as well as other refreshments, can be pricey at the bowling alley. Most bowling alleys will ask for you not to bring outside food and water in, but water bottles are usually allowed. Check with the establishment if you are not sure.
6

Step Six

Eat before you go bowling. Kids love to snack wherever they go. They would much rather spend $5 on a hotdog than have a good lunch at home. They may want to do both after several games of bowling, but eating before you go may help curb the larger appetite for a full meal of hotdogs or pizza.
