How to Stay Cool at the New Orleans Jazz Fest

Introduction

If youa??re going to the New Orleans Jazz Fest, youa??re obviously incredibly cool. Wait, thata??s lame. This is about body temperature. Heat stroke is no joke. Come prepared to the Jazz Fest and youa??ll be able to enjoy the whole day without passing out and not leave with your skin five shades of red.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need

  • Sunblock
  • Sunglasses
  • Light clothing
  • Water

Steps

1

Step One

Find some shade. There are plenty of awnings and umbrellas where you can get away from the sun. There are also air-conditioned buildings, which is like a sweet oasis.
2

Step Two

Bring sunscreen. Plenty of it. SPF 608. Keep reapplying, especially after a show when youa??ve been getting sweaty and rubbing against people.
3

Step Three

Wear a hat.
4

Step Four

Wear comfortable, non-polyester, light clothing. If youa??re female, wear a bikini top under your shirt in case you want to take it off without taking it all off. Wear shorts, skirts, t-shirts, tank tops, sandles.
5

Step Five

Wear sunglasses. Protect those eyes. You need them to see music.
6

Step Six

Finally, keep hydrated. This doesna??t mean beer because thata??s actually dehydrating. Go ahead, drink beer, but you should have a water chaser.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • At times the Fair Grounds can get cool, especially later in the day. You might think about bringing heavier clothing in case the weather takes a turn for the worse.
  • Get VIP tickets, which gives you more access to air-conditioned areas. Worth the price alone.
  • Flashing is not recommended.
