How to Repair a Hole in an Underwire Bra
Introduction
There is nothing more annoying and uncomfortable than when your underwire bra gets a hole and the underwire starts to come out on one side. It tends to happen over time due to excessive wear. This can make you look lopsided and not feel right. Luckily there is an easy way to repair it.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Steps
1
Step One
Gather a seam ripper, thread and needle.
2
Step Two
Check the underwire to see if it is broken. To do this take your finger and feel along the underwire. You will be able to tell if it is broken.
3
Step Three
If it is broken you can remove it or you can leave it in. Eventually it will have to be removed or the bra will have to be thrown away because the underwire will start to bend and protrude out.
4
Step Four
If you remove it you will need to remove the wire from the other side also. To do this simply tear a similiar hole with your seam ripper on the other side and pull out the underwire. Now your bra is a non-underwire bra.
5
Step Five
If the underwire is not broken, push it back down inside the bra. Use a safety pin and place it over the hole so the underwire will not come back out the hole.
6
Step Six
Thread your needle and sew up the hole below the safety pin. If you do not know how to stitch it is very simple. Take the needle and go back and forth from side to side closing the fabric together. When you have gone all the way across the hole tie a knot in the thread to keep if from coming undone. This will reinforce the underwire and keep it from coming back through the old hole.
Tips & Warnings
- Handwash your bras to keep them looking their best and help them last longer. Also air dry.
