How to Plan a Weekend at the Knockengorroch World Ceilidh

Introduction

The Knockengorroch World Ceildh is a festival bringing Celtic, world and roots music to the Scottish hills. It also brings a commitment to environmental issues that other UK festivals will only hint at. Solar powered cinemas and showers and eco-friendly transport shows the seriousness of the organizers. Here's how to get there.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Check out the Knockengorroch website at the link below.
2

Step Two

Book your tickets. It is advisable you do this as early as possible as the festival sells out quickly. The prices are inclusive of camping, entertainments, workshops and booking fee.
3

Step Three

Buy the necessary equipment. If you are going for a weekend you will need to come with a tent, sleeping bag, food, cooking equipment and the appropriate clothing, including waterproofs. It is often best not to guess the weather, but to come prepared for all conditions.
4

Step Four

Think about how you are going to get there. Driving is the easiest option though you will have to pay 10 pounds for parking.
5

Step Five

An alternative travel arrangement, provided by the Knockengorroch organisers, is the eco-friendly bus service, though the service only picks up from Edinburgh and Glasgow, costing between 21 to 26 pounds. For more details, go the Knockengorroch website.
6

Step Six

Catch a ride with freewheelers (link below). Here there is a list of people with space in their cars to share with other festival goers. It is suggested you book your ride well in advance.
