How to Plan a Weekend at The Black Horse Festival

Introduction

The Black Horse Festival has been providing great live music for two decades and has become world famous in the process. The festival takes place over four days in May in the hamlet of Telham. If you plan a weekend at the Black Horse Festival, here are a few things you should know.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Steps

1

Step One

When to go. The Black Horse Festival is held over the bank holidays near the end of May. It's the perfect excuse to get away from the television and enjoy some live music surrounded by thousands of fellow music lovers.
2

Step Two

What music to expect. The festival includes the best in blues, folk, jazz, soul and rock. World music performers from around the world make the event an international event.
3

Step Three

Get down to the Black Horse Inn. The festival is held in a field at the back of the inn. The pub is located in Telham on the A2100, which is situated between Battle and Hastings. When the festival isn't there, Telham is a sleepy hamlet, with a few cottages, a church and the pub.
4

Step Four

Know the venue. The event is held under a huge marquee, so if it starts to rain you will still be warm and dry. There is a big stage, great lighting and a great sound system. There is a bar selling drink and real charcoal cooked food.
5

Step Five

Get your tickets on the official website at www.blackhorsefestival.org.uk. Expect to pay around ?£16 to ?£18 for an all-day ticket. The Black Horse Festival is a non-profit event and donations are made to various charities and causes. You also can buy tickets at the Black Horse Inn and at the Hastings and Battle Tourist Information offices.
6

Step Six

Take the kids. There are many activities available for children. You'll find jugglers and "Punch and Judy" shows onsite, as well as face painting and story telling sessions. Everyone can enjoy the music workshop sessions in which you can learn some tips from the artists themselves.
7

Step Seven

Book your accommodations, ranging from campsites, hotels and pubs to bed and breakfasts. Check the official website for a list of accommodations along with phone numbers. When you plan a weekend at the Black Horse Music Festival, phone the Battle Tourist Information on 01424 773721 or the Hastings Tourist Information on 01424 781111. You'll find further details of accommodation facilities in the area.
