Introduction
The Shure EC2 sound isolating earphones are designed to reduce noise and provide a high quality listening experience. They do this by fitting snugly into the ear canal and blocking all outside noise. Because the earphones are designed to fit inside the ear canal, therea??s the possibility of ear wax fouling the tips of the ear stems. To avoid this, Shure provides disposable earwax guards. To place a wax guard on your Shure EC2 Sound Isolating Earphones, follow the steps below.

Steps

Step One
Remove the sleeve from the earphone nozzle by gently pulling it off the stem.

Step Two
Remove the dirty wax guard from the ear nozzle by peeling it off. Discard the dirty wax guard.

Step Three
Clean the tip of the earphone nozzle with an antiseptic wipe or alcohol swab.

Step Four
Wait for the tip of nozzle to dry.

Step Five
Peel a wax guard from the strip of disposable wax guards.

Step Six
Place it on the nozzle tip, adhesive side down. Press the guard gently into place.

Step Seven
Replace the earphone sleeve.

Step Eight
Repeat this process with the other earphone stem.

- Purchase extra wax guards in strips of ten from Shure (see link below).
- Do not put wax guards on the earphone sleeves. They will not function properly and may fall off inside your ear.
