How to Make a Last-Minute Super Bowl Chili Dip

Introduction

It's playoff weekend and your friends have suddenly invited themselves over and you have nothing to serve them. Well, my friend, it's all about that can of chili in your pantry and how to present it...

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need

  • Can o' chili
  • Can opener
  • Tortilla Chips (make a friend stop on the way for some if you don't have any)
  • Cheese or garnish (if you have it)

Steps

1

Step One

Pop open that can or jar of chili that's been waiting in your pantry for just such an emergency.
2

Step Two

Pour it into the largest, nicest microwavable bowl you've got.
3

Step Three

Grab some cheese out of the fridge. Doesn't matter what kind, though shredded cheddar is preferable, of course. If you've only got the block kind, hack some off and crumble it up. You can even slap some sliced cheese on top of the chili, if worse comes to worse.
4

Step Four

Cover the bowl with a wax paper or a paper towel and heat the chili until hot (usually two to three minutes), stopping midway through to stir thoroughly. When there's fifteen seconds left on the timer, stop the microwave and ADD the cheese, in whatever form, on top. Zap the rest of the way. If you don't have a microwave, you'll have to heat the chili on the stove. But dude, get a microwave.
5

Step Five

Stick some tortilla chips artfully into the chili around the edges of the bowl. Toss the rest of the chips onto a nice plate or into a bowl. And if you've got 'em, you can add a dollop of sour cream on top or even just a little dash of Tabasco for color and flavor. Party on!
