How to Join a Texas Holdem Poker Tournament in Las Vegas

Introduction

Texas Holdem Poker has been a vastly popular method of gambling since it boomed with Internet play around the year 2000. TV shows and Internet sites popped up instantaneously trying to get an angle into this popular game. Playing poker at a casino can be fun and exciting. You can also make a lot of money in the process if you are a good player and a little lucky!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Choose the casino in Las Vegas in which you are going to play. Pretty much all casinos with a poker room will offer tournaments of any shape, size and buy-in.
2

Step Two

Ask the floor manager where to go, or if he can get a tournament started for you. Even if the casinos are not offering scheduled tournaments, many times they will have enough willing players to create an impromptu tournament.
3

Step Three

Register for the tournament after receiving information from the floor manager. Be sure to note the start time of the tournament. Ask the tournament director or floor manager what time you should arrive to ensure you receive all necessary information.
4

Step Four

Sit down at the money tables if you can not find a floor manager or there are not any scheduled tournaments available. Here you can talk to other players and get a lot of information. Many times they will be able to tell you who to talk to. The dealer may help as well.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • Be ready to sit for awhile. Some tournaments only last a couple of hours while others can last from 12 hours to multiple days.
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages. You will see many people drinking, but you are putting your money on the line so you should stay as level headed as possible.
  • Watch for professional players. These players generally will not mess with small dollar tournaments, but if the buy-in amount gets high enough then the really good players will come out.
