How to Improve the Quality of Incoming Faxes

Introduction

Having a fax machine is very important to your office or home office. The documents that come in on that machine need to be clear and legible. If your faxes are coming in blurry or unreadable, you need to fix it. Follow these steps to improve the quality of incoming faxes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Consult your ownera??s manual. This should always be the first step when you have any problem with your fax machine. Not able to find it? Go to your manufacturera??s Web site and download a copy.
2

Step Two

Clean your fax machine. Get some canned air from your office supply store. Make sure that there are no dust particles that are in the way of the ink hitting the paper.
3

Step Three

Check the paper supply. Make sure that the paper is unwrinkled, fresh and bright white. Paper is half of the equation of making the fax look good. When your paper is not clean and white, then your fax will not be as good as it should be.
4

Step Four

Clean the print cartridge. There is a clean print cartridge function on most fax machines. Use this to remove any dried ink from the cartridge head so that the ink will come out more efficiently.
5

Step Five

Try to use the canned air to clean the area around the cartridge head area. Anywhere that the paper and ink meet is an important place to clean. Can you see any dirt or dust? Blow it away.
6

Step Six

Check for any stray pieces of paper. Make sure that there is no paper jammed in the rollers. Even the tiniest piece will wreak havoc on your print quality.
7

Step Seven

Have someone send you a fax. Check to see if the quality has improved when you receive the fax on the machine. Then you can reevaluate your situation.
