How to Get Slingbox to Work With McAfee Security Center and Windows Vista

Introduction

Slingbox is a revolutionary new way to watch your TV. With your Slingbox, you will be able to watch your TV on your computer or Windows Mobile-based cell phone from anywhere in the world. To watch your Slingbox, you will need to download the SlingPlayer. There are a few other programs that can interfere with the SlingPlayer. McAfee Security Center is one of them. Step One

Click on the start menu and type "Services" in the "Start Search" field at the bottom of the start menu.

Step Two

A window will pop up listing various local services that are currently running on your system. Scroll down until you find "McAfee Redirector Service" and click on it.

Step Three

On the left side of the window, it will prompt you to stop the service with the "Stop" text clickable. Click "Stop."

Step Four

Launch the SlingPlayer, connect to the service, and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before you get started, make sure that your SlingPlayer is closed and that all processes related to the SlingPlayer have stopped. The changes that are made to your system will not take affect until all SlingPlayer processes are closed.
