How to Convert HTML to XHTML in Microsoft FrontPage

Introduction

By default, Microsoft FrontPage uses HTML standard to create webpages within the editor. With a few quick changes to your page option settings in Microsoft FrontPage, you can convert your HTML code pages to the more up to date version of HTML--XHTML. These changes will make sure that your website is compliant with the most recent browser updates.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2003

Steps

1

Step One

Open Microsoft FrontPage 2003 and select "Page Options" from the "Tools" menu at the top of your screen.
2

Step Two

Click the fourth tab in the bottom row, "Code Formatting," in the "Page Options" dialog box that is now open.
3

Step Three

Click the box before the title "Tag names are lowercase" until you see a checkbox in the box.
4

Step Four

Click the box before the title "Attribute names are lowercase" until you see a checkbox in the box.
5

Step Five

Uncheck the "Omit end tags" check box if needed. If this option is unavailable for you, that means Microsoft FrontPage is already set to not omit end tags.
6

Step Six

Click "OK" on your "Page Options" dialog box to save your changes and close the dialog box.
7

Step Seven

Enter your XHTML code into your pages. Operate Microsoft FrontPage as normal.
