How to Celebrate St. David's Day

Introduction

The first of March marks the celebration of St. David's Day in Wales. Every person, young or young at heart and in between can be found celebrating in festive spirit on this day. St. David is the patron saint of Wales and is said to have lived a very pious and steadfast life.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Every year on March 1, Cardiff is home to the St. David's Day Parade. You can put together a group and a float and take part in the celebration honouring St. David. Adorn your float in the Welsh national colours of red green and white. A red dragon on your float is sure to please!

Buttonholes leeks and daffodils adorn the clothing of Welsh men and women as they partake in the celebrations of this national holiday. (These are the Welsh national emblems)

Step Two

Bake some cookies in the shapes of daffodils and buttonhole leeks! Then take those cookies to your child's school where you can hear him/her partake in an assembly type of celebration. During this celebration, St. David is honoured with song, dance and the recitation of his contributions to Welsh society.

Step Three

National costumes are prevalent on this day so feel free to wear yours to the local pub in the evening! Once you've had your fill of cookies and other goodies at the parade, you can throw a party of your own!
