How to Catch Humor in a Photograph

Introduction

Most funny photos seem to just happen spontaneously, and people love posting them in blogs and showing them at the office. But it's also possible to catch humor in a photo intentionally. There are several great tricks that will help you to add to your funny photo collection without much effort.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Use a different angle. Sometimes capturing people and animals at an unusual angle gives the photograph a humorous effect. Try snapping subjects in profile, slightly off-center, or in extreme close-up to catch a little humor.
2

Step Two

Tickle your subject's funny bone. Tell a joke, make a face or throw a fake punch at them. By prodding your subject a different way, you're apt to get a humorous reaction you can catch in a photograph.
3

Step Three

Photograph kids and animals. Children and pets don't need prodding to do funny or unusual things. They can handle that on their own. If you take a picture of your children playing with the pets, you're bound to get a photo that is "awww" cute and funny to boot.
4

Step Four

Travel with your camera. Funny moments can occur anyplace at anytime. Bring your camera-or at least your camera phone-with you to work, school, concerts and the coffee shop. You never know when hilarity will ensue, and you want to be ready to catch it when it happens.
5

Step Five

Make plans for a funny photograph. Although most funny photos are spontaneous, it doesn't hurt to plan one. Try playing a harmless prank or practical joke, or setting up a funny prop in the background of an otherwise staid photo. You can learn to capture humor in a photo with practice and have fun doing it.
