How to Care for an Infant After a Bath

Introduction

Keep your baby cozy and warm when you remove him from the bath and follow these steps to not only care for his baby-soft skin, but bond with him as well.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Wrap baby in a soft, fluffy towel.
2

Step Two

Rub a dollop of baby lotion in your hands, then gently massage your baby in a circular motion, beginning with the shoulders and ending with the feet.
3

Step Three

Sprinkle cornstarch powder in the folds of baby's thighs to prevent chafing.
4

Step Four

Gently brush baby's hair with a soft baby brush.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sprinkle a bit of cornstarch powder in your hand, then place powder only where needed, being careful to avoid areas near the baby's eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Babies love one-on-one attention from Mommy or Daddy. Ask your pediatrician about special oils and lotions for baby massage.
  • Talcum or baby powders that contain talc have been linked to upper respiratory problems.
