How to Book Train Travel from New York to New Orleans

Introduction

You can travel by train from New York to the land of jazz with ease. Amtrak offers daily service to New Orleans on its luxury Crescent line. It'll take you about 24 hours to get from the Statue of Liberty to Bourbon Street.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak's web site in the "Resources" section below. On the web site, you can book your train reservations via Amtrak's Fare Finder. You can also navigate the site if you have a PDA, Blackberry or other handheld device.
2

Step Two

If you ordered your tickets online or by phone, pick them up at a ticket agent or at one of the Quik-Trak kiosks that can be found at many Amtrak locations (you'll need to enter your reservation number). If you've booked your trip far in advance, you can also request that your tickets be mailed to you.
3

Step Three

Consider booking a basic Sleeper Bedroom (upwards of $200). It has accommodations for up to two adults and two children. There's no rest room in the cabin, but you have access to one in the same car.
4

Step Four

Reserve a more expensive Superliner Bedroom to get a large, private window, a bathroom with shower and special room services.
5

Step Five

Purchase a coach ticket for the low price of $80. This will get you a wide, reclining seat, access to caf?? and sightseeing cars, and a soft pillow.
