How to Become a Web 2.0 company
Introduction
With so many new web companies starting up today it is often times hard become a true Web 2.0 company and riase above all of the noise. Being a Web 2.0 company does not just mean you were created in 2004 or 2005 and have a fancy AJAX front end it is much more than that. To truly be a Web 2.0 company you have to make sure that you follow the steps below.

Step One
Make sure that you start the company in a garage or a spare bedroom is someone's house with just 2-3 people. Make sure all of the people are tech people with absolutely no business experience. Also, make sure that at least one of those peoeple is age 23 or less.

Step Two
Analyze your company name in detail. Is it missing some vowels, like Flickr? Does it have "ster" on the end of it? Are there two "oo's" together anywhere in the name? Make sure you have one of these things going for you and you will be fine.

Sign up to present at a DEMO conference (www.demo.org). Demo is a venue for new companies that occurs two times a year. Demo is a great place to launch a new venture. You will get a 5-7 minutes to present to press, investors and industry experts.

Make sure that you use open source technology to build your site. When in doubt use Ruby on Rails?

Step Six
Make sure the pictures that users submit to your website are always taken at weird angles. Also make sure most of the people are scantily clad girls or guys with no shirts showing off their 6 packs.

Do you have T-Shirts with your logo on them that you sell on the homepage of your site?

Get your picture taken on the Demand Media Web 2.0 couch? All Web 2.0 companies get their picture taken "on the couch".

Finally, have you proven your business model and are you making any money? To truly be a Web 2.0 company your answer to this needs to be NO.
