How to Become a Political Junkie

Introduction

Therea??s no doubt that therea??s a greater interest in politics than ever before. With the advent of blogs, there are dozens upon dozens of places to find new information. Whether you lean left or right, these are good times to be a political junkie.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need

  • Internet access
  • Cable TV

Steps

1

Step One

Step One: Find political-leaning blogs. These can be the best repositories of information, as they link to major stories of the day. A lot of good information can be found in the comments. Even if you are liberal or conservative, ita??s a good idea to check out what the other side is doing. On the left: Daily Kos.com. On the right: Littlegreenfootballs.com.
2

Step Two

Check out individual blogs: these are different than a place like Daily Kos, where a number of different bloggers write blog entries. Michelle Malkin, on the right, has a popular personal blog. Atrios, on the left, has one of the most popular left-leaning personal blogs.
3

Step Three

Read magazines and newspapers. Magazines lean left and right more obviously than newspapers, which try to be impartial. Read a??The Nation,a?? on the left, and a??The National Review,a?? on the right.
4

Step Four

Watch C-Span. This is the holy grail for political junkies: actually watch legislation being debated, or speeches in whole.

Watch the news. On cable, it runs 24 hours a day so youa??ll be able to get information on the minutiae. Debate shows such as a??Washington Week,a?? "Hardball," or interview shows like a??Meet the Pressa?? are a necessity.
