How to Be Courteous on the Dance Floor

Introduction

Dance floors often get extremely crowded. You are likely to get bumped several times by other couples. Being courteous on the dance floor can eliminate this and help everyone dance smoothly. By following a few helpful tips, you can be a courteous dancer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Get out on the dance floor at the beginning of the song. Waiting until the middle or end of the song just interrupts the pattern of the dancers already on the floor.
2

Step Two

Dance in the same direction as the other dancers, if possible.
3

Step Three

Do tricks such as lifts away from other dancers. If the dance floor is crowded everywhere, refrain from doing trick moves.
4

Step Four

Lead your partner well. Guys need to watch where they are going, watch for other dancers around them and watch for couples entering or exiting the floor.
5

Step Five

Listen to the music to know what type of dance to do. Get off the floor if you don't know how to do that type of dance.
6

Step Six

Leave cigarettes and drinks on your table. Most dance halls don't allow drinks or cigarettes on the floor. They make a mess, and your partner will not want spilled beer or cigarette smoke on her.
7

Step Seven

Socialize off the dance floor. It's not courteous to hang out on the dance floor if you are not dancing.
