Introduction

If you are planning on keeping your photographs and portraits in good condition for the coming years you will need the right storage tools. Photo albums with special paper and photo storage boxes are easily obtainable and will keep your memories safe.

Things You'll Need

  • Photographs you want to save
  • Photo album binders
  • Photo storage boxes

Steps

Step One

A proper photo album will preserve your pictures will still allowing them to be easily viewed. This album will need to be a sturdy binder with acid-free paper inserts and a protective plastic sheet protector.

Step Two

Purchase a slip case for the binder to be placed inside of to keep the album safe from dust and sunlight.

Step Three

If you are storing a large amount of photos you will need to purchase a medium size archival box. These are usually referred to as shoe or hat boxes. They are an excellent way to keep your photographs safe from dust, insects, and sunlight.

Step Four

Larger size photographs can be placed into office record cartons made from acid-free cardboard.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to keep these photo holders in dark, cool places with very little humidity. Heat, sunlight, and humidity will warp your photos sooner than you think.
