Introduction

Most of us learned to shave from our fathers, uncles, or older brothers. Along the way, we may have picked up some bad habits or methods that don't work on our skin. Follow these directions and you should be straight.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need

  • Warm Water
  • A New Razor Blade (2 blades max i.e. Sensor Excel)
  • Shaving Cream (i.e. Cutting Up from Barc)
  • Cold Water
  • Towel
  • Post Shave Lotion (i.e. Bump Down)

Steps

1

Step One

Pre-Shave: Head Start

- Make sure your face is clean before you shave.
- Make sure to soften the hair that you want to shave: Wash your face with warm water to get the hair to stand straight up off your skin and make easier to shave.
- Make sure you use a fresh blade when you shave. A dull blade will cut your skin more often than a sharp one will.

Step Two

Shaving: The Right Moves
- Shave with the grain, that is, in the direction your hair grows. You may think shaving 'up' or against the grain gives you a closer shave, but cutting the hair this way changes the way it grows back, increasing your risk of razor bumps.
- Try not to press the razor too hard against the face or to repeat shaving strokes several times. This may cause more skin irritation.

Bump Down by Barc

Post-Shave: Face Off
- Wash off the shaving cream with cold water. Warm water opens your pores, which makes it easier for the razor to get the hair. Cold water closes your pores and makes it more difficult for things to get inside.
- Apply Bump Down Razor Bump Treatment. Rub Bump Down lotion in a circular motion everywhere you shave.

Overall Tips & Warnings

  • Be specific about what you use on your face. The ingredients in soap can dry your skin leaving it ashy and irritable. Use a soap-free cleanser which will leave your skin feeling clean and moisturized.
