Before starting you car, you can gauge your ability to drive by using a breath tester to measure blood alcohol content. In Europe and Australia you often see these testers at bars, although they are not common in the US. But you can buy a breath tester, which can help you avoid a DUI. Here's how.

Buy a breath tester device. You can find one through an online search. Test your device in a safe environment--not behind the wheel--until you trust it to determine whether you can drive after drinking alcohol.
