Introduction
As the more chilled out little sister of the world famous nightspot The End, AKA was one of the first a??DJ Bars' to spring up all over London. Years later, this popular late bar has bagged a dedicated clientele, filling up the venue each weekend for drinks, food and of course, the ground shaking bass.
Instructions
Difficulty: Easy
Steps
1
Step One
Find AKA Bar located right next to The End on West Central Street in Bloomsbury, a short walk from Tottenham Court Road, Holborn and Covent Garden tubes and just off the numerous bus routes along New Oxford Street.
2
Step Two
Reserve a table where you can sample AKA's much talked about cocktail menu, featuring everything from standard classics to something a little more adventurous.
3
Step Three
Perch at the impressive 15m long illuminated fibre-optic bar on a Friday at Blind Tiger. AKA's newest night was inspired by the secret parties of the 1920s and features burlesque performers and a soundtrack of soul, hip hop, pop and indie.
4
Step Four
Buy a ticket for a Saturday when As One presents some of AKA's biggest DJ nights. The End and AKA are opened up to each other to make one huge party.
5
Step Five
Nip next door if you're up for more of a party. The End is renowned for playing host to everyone from cool underground techno and electro DJs to big names and big beats.
6
Step Six
Take the party into the small hours if you're not ready to call it a night by hanging out at AKA's afterparty, Jaded. From 6am in AKA and 8am in The End, you can listen to some excellent DJ talent at Jaded whilst sipping tea and eating scones!
7
Step Seven
Be safe not sorry, and make sure you hail a black cab from the taxi rank outside at the end of the night instead of an unlicensed (and potentially unsafe) minicab.
8
Step Eight
Pose like there's no tomorrow at AKA's Sunday night offering, Clandestino, which features more sophisticated house and electro tunes and attracts a stylish crowd.
9
Step Nine
Enjoy a more laid back vibe to the usual clubby buzz by visiting AKA on a midweek night. Listen to chilled broken beats on a Tuesday night in the downstairs lounge.
10
Step Ten
Find a group of five mates who are up for taking part in AKA's celebrated quiz night. Topics range from fashion and celebrity gossip to geography and music, and they've got a huge cinema screen for the audio visual rounds which make this slightly different from your average pub quiz!
Tips & Warnings
- The upstairs mezzanine level of AKA is VIP only, however you can book this area (with full waiter service) or other parts of the bar for private parties.
- Check out the brickwork and original features of the venue when you're there. AKA was built inside a nineteenth century sorting office.
- Queues can be long on Saturday nights, so purchase your ticket beforehand and aim to get there before midnight. You'll also save money, as tickets are invariably more expensive on the door.
