Introduction

If you burn a CD using iTunes without setting your preferences, the results may disappoint you. Follow these steps to burn a high-quality CD that you will enjoy for years to come.

Step One

If you are a Windows user, choose "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu. If you are a Mac user, choose "Preferences" from the "iTunes" menu.

Step Two

Select the "Importing" button. You will see a pop-up menu. Select either "AIFF Encoder" or "Apple Lossless Encoder."

Insert an audio CD.

Step Four

Click "Import" until you have you have imported everything you would like to burn to the CD.

Step Five

Go to "File" and select "New Playlist." Select and enter a name for the group of songs you have just imported. Press "Return."

Step Six

Select the "Library" icon from the "Source" list. In the order in which you want to hear them, drag the songs you want on the CD to the playlist you have just named and created. Click "Burn CD."

Step Seven

Insert a blank CD-R disk.

Step Eight

Select "Burn CD" one last time. It will take a few minutes to burn the CD.

  • Apple Lossless Encoder uses less hard drive space than AIFF of the same quality.
  • Most CDs can hold up to 74 songs.
