Step One

Log in to your eBay account (see the Resources section below).

Click on 'Sell.'

Choose a category for the item you wish to sell. You may also choose a sub-category if you wish (though this is not mandatory).

Follow the prompts provided to create a selling listing for your item. You can write a description of your item, as well as select your asking price or opening bid, add pictures and specify your shipping options and return policy.

Step Five

Specify how long you wish your listing to remain active. If your listing goes inactive and your item has not sold, you will have the option to re-list it without having to go through the entire listing process again.

Know your options. eBay is no longer just about auctions. You can now choose to sell your item at a fixed price, or you can offer a 'Buy It Now' tag on your auctions tha allows buyers to bypass the bidding process. Let eBay know which of these venues you wish to use to sell your item.

Sit back and wait for the bids to pour in. Of course, if you are selling your item at a fixed price, you can simply wait for someone to buy it.

Step Eight

Contact your buyer. When someone buys your item or wins your auction, send that person an email congratulating them. Be sure to include an invoice, which eBay will create for you for free, and tell the buyer how many days he or she has to send payment.

Once you have received payment, pack up your item and ship it out to its new home.
