Introduction

If your typing and clicking weren't fast enough the day tickets went on sale for your favorite band or team, you can still score last-minute tickets to a show or sporting event. Not all of them involve scalpers or paying exorbitant fees to ticket brokers. Through word of mouth, networking and a little research, you can score even the most sought-after tickets.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Click on Ticketmaster or eBay auctions. Ticketmaster now has a service for people who want to sell tickets they originally purchased, but can no longer use. eBay always has plenty of last-minute ticket auctions for concerts and sporting events.
2

Step Two

Try StubHub or other online ticket services. Compare prices on several services before purchasing, and make sure that payment and ticket delivery are secure.
3

Step Three

Go to the venue box office. Some venues release extra seats on the day of the show or game. At certain venues, will-call tickets are released if people don't claim them by show time. Ask the person at the ticket window if there is a stand-by line.
4

Step Four

Check Craigslist and band or event message boards. Craigslist has a "Tickets" category under "For Sale." This is one of the best ways to score tickets locally and not deal with Fedex or other overnight delivery services.
5

Step Five

Approach Ticketmaster again on the day of the show. Promoters often release good tickets on the day of the event or close to it. Always check even if you checked the previous day and got a "tickets not available" message. Availability changes from day to day.
6

Step Six

Ask your friends and co-workers. They may have extra tickets, or know someone who does.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't buy tickets from scalpers outside the venue. Ticket scalping is illegal in many states.
