Introduction

The best way to organize an iTunes music folder is to use playlists. With playlists, you can select which songs to play and the order they play. You can group songs into playlists by artist, type of music or any other way. You may choose to organize your music into songs you like to excercise to, dance music, or easy listening songs. Below are the steps to organize your iTunes music folder with playlists.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Steps

1

Step One

Open iTunes.
2

Step Two

On the File menu, choose "New Playlist," or click the "Add (+)" button. An untitled playlist with a musical note icon appears in the iTunes Source list.
3

Step Three

Now select the untitled playlist selected, name your playlist.
4

Step Four

Next, select a song in your Library and drag it to your playlist.
5

Step Five

You can add as many songs as you want to your playlist.
6

Step Six

By clicking the playlist in the Source list you can view all the songs you've added.
7

Step Seven

To change the order of songs in the playlist, just drag the song to where you want.
8

Step Eight

To remove a song from a playlist, select it, and then press the "Delete" key. This doesn't delete the song from your library, it only removes it from the playlist.
9

Step Nine

If you want to keep a song in your playlist, but you don't want to listen to it or burn it to CD right now, click the check box next to the song.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add more than one song at a time to your playlist by holding the "Control" key while you are selecting songs.
  • When doing step 9, you will need to remember the next time you play that playlist, the song you checked will not play, and you will need to remove the check mark.
