Introduction
Toga is a traditional Roman garment, worn mostly by men. However, nowadays both men and women like to wear them for theme or college parties. Toga is essentially a rectangular cloth that is cut into a semi-circle shape, less round at one end. It is very easy to make and drape the toga. Here are the steps on how to make a toga:
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Steps
1
Step One
Get four to five yards of rectangular linen cloth, preferably white or solid color.
2
Step Two
Shape the material in the form of a semi-circle using a good, sharp pair of scissors.
3
Step Three
Next, make an additional cut into the top center of the semi-circle approximately 1/4" to 1/3", into center of the fabric.
4
Step Four
Hem the ends of the fabric if you want. This step is optional.
5
Step Five
Secure one corner of the semi-circle to the waist on the right side of the body and use a large safety pin to attach it on the left side of the body.
6
Step Six
Note that the fabric should hang to the knees.
7
Step Seven
Throw the remaining part of the fabric over your left shoulder.
8
Step Eight
Fasten it with a safety pin or decorative brooch.
9
Step Nine
Bring loose end part of the toga to the waist and tie it with safety pin or simply tuck it in. You may need to wrap it several times around your body if the fabric is too long.
